BamX saugettes

BamX Saugettes is a temporary urban greening installation developed by EPFL’s Laboratory for Geometric Computing with the City of Lausanne. Located near the train station on a heat-retaining concrete site, the bamboo dome provides summer shade, supports biodiversity, and demonstrates how greenery can be integrated into dense urban areas. The structure consists of prefabricated, ultra-light elastic gridshell modules that are compact for transport and assembled using weaving techniques. Designed with custom digital tools, the system supports climbing plants and incorporates planted seating pods. It exemplifies sustainable, low-tech construction using natural materials and offers a replicable model for livable, green urban interventions.
